Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is common in both children and adults, and many who have it still aren’t diagnosed because the symptoms can be subtle. At Wholesome Therapy Center, practice founder and experienced occupational therapist Anastasiya Boikova, OTR, offers a leading-edge noninvasive treatment for ADHD using magnetic energy. Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT) harnesses magnetic fields to precisely promote brain repair and help patients feel and function better. ADHD Q & A

What is ADHD?

ADHD is a complex neurodevelopmental condition. The most common symptoms include a short attention span, impulsive behavior, hyperactivity, anxiety, and being easily distracted.

Many parents overlook ADHD in their children because the symptoms are often subtle. When left unchecked, ADHD may last until adulthood.

My child has ADHD. Are there alternatives to medication?

Stimulant medication is the first-line treatment for ADHD, according to the American Psychiatric Association. However, up to 3 in 10 children with ADHD don’t respond to stimulant drugs. Further, many parents would like to take a nonmedication approach if possible.

There are now exciting new possibilities for ADHD treatment that are safe for every age, some that don’t involve medications and others that are noninvasive. Wholesome Therapy Center offers two leading options in this area, including:

Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT)

MeRT is a customized version of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). During this treatment, a magnetic field delivers pulses into the brain. This stimulates lasting positive change in the parts of the brain that aren’t functioning well and relieves symptoms dramatically.

MeRT is also effective for children with autism, which takes on added significance because up to 7 in 10 children with autism have ADHD, too.

The MeRT Approach

MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy,  uses FDA-cleared equipment to generate a gentle magnetic field in order to balance and stimulate brain function. This process is guided by sophisticated diagnostics and imaging.

he equipment used in MeRT is FDA-cleared to treat Major Depressive Disorder and OCD and is used off-label to treat a wide variety of conditions, including autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, TBI, Dementia, Parkinsons, ADHD, Learning Disorders and the after-effects of stroke.

Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI®)

MNRI is another noninvasive treatment method that harnesses the power of reflexive responses to help repair brain and motor function. It combines advanced methods of restoring a damaged nervous system.

What is the MeRT process for ADHD?

The MeRT process starts with a painless brain mapping session. Electroencephalograms (EEGs) and electrocardiograms (EKGs) are simple tests that provide complex information about the brain.

These test results pinpoint the areas of disruption in the brain: the root cause of symptoms.

A personalized MeRT protocol is created from those test results.

Regular TMS involves a consistent set of impulses at a specific depth in one area. MeRT has variable depths, locations, and pulse patterns based on what your brain maps show you need.

After a week, another set of scans provides a clear image of your progress and helps fine-tune future treatments.

Wholesome Therapy Center creates highly personalized plans for every person with ADHD. To learn more about MeRT and MNRI, call the office today. You can also book a consultation online anytime.
